Hand-built passive RCA stereo router. Routes one input to three selectable outputs (A/B/C) using a break-before-make (BBM) rotary switch, ensuring galvanic isolation and no shared ground between outputs.
Technical Configuration & Grounding Logic
Designed for high-end audio routing, this unit prioritizes signal integrity and ground isolation. Unlike typical switchers that share a common ground, this build ensures unused outputs remain completely disconnected.
- Ground Isolation: Output grounds are fully independent. The ground connection exists only between the input and the currently selected output. Non-selected outputs are fully isolated (signal and ground), preventing ground loops and cross-talk between multiple amplifiers.
- Chassis Grounding: The aluminum enclosure is grounded via the input RCA to provide RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) shielding.
- BBM Switching (Break-Before-Make): The 3-position rotary switch mechanically disconnects the current channel before connecting the next, preventing any momentary short circuits between output devices.
- Isolated 3-way Switching: Simultaneously switches both Signal (L/R) and Ground (L/R) for each output.

Customer request: The IN will be a line-level signal (a TS or TRS send from my MOTU 828ES interface). The 8 OUTS will be patched to TS RCA INS of the 238. So yes, the switch is placed between the mic preamp out and the Tascam 238

Exactly what a proper HiFi switcher should be
Needed to route one DAC output to three diferent amps without any ground loop nonsense or crosstalk between them. This does it perfectly. The BBM rotary mechanicaly breaks before making contact so there's no momentary short between devices — every audiophile knows why that matters.
Ground isolation between unused outputs is the bit most cheap switchers completly ignore. This one gets it right. Dead quiet, zero coloration, passive and no power needed. Solid aluminium box, nice knob. 10 days build. Thanks Paul! Recomend.
