As customer and studio producer, I have been using the 10 input Desktop Neumann for a few months now, and I must say I am thoroughly impressed with its capabilities. The 2 input TRS 1/4″ Balanced (AUX Line In) and 8 input DSUB Tascam (summing) options give me a lot of flexibility when it comes to connecting my equipment.

The dual 21 step precision vol control L/R and dual stereo independent amps L/R make it easy to control the sound and levels of my mixes. The external power supply ensures that I get the best performance possible from the studio producer. Additionally, Audio Transformer Color Amp come with the 4 x Haufe in/out transformers and the +30dB gain range (AUX) divided into a 21 step control make this studio producer truly unique.

As home studio producer, I have had the opportunity to work with many different summing mixers.

This desktop Neumann summing mixer with 10 input channels and 2 output channels is one of my favorites.
The 8 input DSUB Tascam summing channels combined with the 2 input TRS 1/4″ balanced AUX line in channels allow for plenty of flexibility in routing and summing. The 21 step precision volume control and dual stereo independent amps provide precise control over the levels and dynamics of the mix. The built-in 8 channel summing mixer and the 2 Haufe in/out transformers help to add color and character to the mix. I especially appreciate the master bus color saturation purposes which allow for even more creativity in shaping the sound. The 21 Step precision vol control is incredibly useful for dialing in the perfect level. The +35dB for line instrument, guitar, mono synth or any mono signal transformer saturation
The 2-channel color amp has its own resistor network (similar to a multi-input summing mixer), it offers you a safe zone known as Headroom. Through proper gain staging, you obtain the fundamental harmonics on the device inputs, (due to over nominal level on inputs you get some “nice” distortion) and subsequently route them through the transformer. Here, the tranfsormer amplifier adds extra excitement and enhances the complex harmonics, resulting in a warm analog color character sound. Of course a 4 or 6 or 8 (or more) input summing before the transformer is better from the side of the analog separation panorama field.
