About This Studio Mastering Switch
This custom-built passive balanced XLR studio switch was designed for a high-end mastering and monitoring setup, allowing six stereo source paths to be selected and routed to a stereo output feeding the Esoteric C-03X Stereo Preamplifier.
The system integrates a range of high-end digital, analog, broadcast, and phono sources, including the Universal Audio 2192 ADC/DAC, Crane Song Solaris Quantum DAC, DaySequerra M4.2Si Radio Receiver, and Ayre P-5xe Phono Preamplifier.
The switch uses Break-Before-Make (BBM) switching to prevent two signal paths from being connected simultaneously during source selection. The signal path remains fully passive and balanced, with no active electronics or power supply required.
Designed specifically for studio mastering, high-end Hi-Fi, outboard routing, and critical monitoring applications, this configuration provides flexible source selection while maintaining a clean and transparent analog signal path.
