24 to 12 / 12 to 24 Channel Bi-Directional Audio Switcher – Professional 12-Channel TRS A/B Relay Switch
The VintageMaker 24 to 12 / 12 to 24 Channel Bi-Directional Audio Switcher is a professional multi-channel analog A/B relay switching system designed for recording studios, professional audio installations and DAW-based production environments.
Featuring 36 physical 1/4″ TRS connections arranged in three independent 12-channel banks, this versatile switcher supports two alternative routing configurations:
- 24 In → 12 Out: Select between two independent 12-channel input banks (A or B) and route the selected signals to one common 12-channel output bank.
- 12 In → 24 Out: Route one common 12-channel input bank to either of two separate 12-channel output banks (A or B).
The routing direction is determined by how the unit is connected. Both configurations use the same internal relay switching architecture.
One unit. 36 TRS connections. Two-way analog routing.
Two-Way Analog Audio Routing
The bi-directional design provides two alternative operating configurations:
24 Inputs → 12 Outputs (A/B Source Selection)
Connect two independent 12-channel audio sources to the A and B input banks. Select either source and route all 12 channels simultaneously to the common output bank.
Ideal for switching between:
- Two separately miked drum kits: Connect two drum setups, each with up to 12 microphones, and select which setup feeds your 12-channel DAW recording inputs.
- Two 12-channel microphone preamp banks: Select between two complete sets of microphone preamp outputs.
- Two microphone configurations: Switch between different microphone selections, placements or recording setups.
- Two analog summing mixer outputs: Select between two independent analog mixing systems.
- Two sets of analog outboard processors: Switch between different EQ, compressor and other analog processing chains.
- Two audio interfaces or DAW converter outputs: Select between two independent 12-channel analog sources.
- Two separate recording or mixing setups: Keep both systems permanently connected and switch without repatching cables.
12 Inputs → 24 Outputs (A/B Destination Selection)
Connect one 12-channel audio source to the common input bank. Route all 12 channels simultaneously to either the A or B output bank.
Ideal for:
- Two separate recording destinations: Route one 12-channel microphone or instrument source to either of two recording systems.
- Two 12-channel audio interfaces: Select which interface or converter receives the incoming signals.
- Two alternative analog processing chains: Route the same 12-channel source through either of two different combinations of EQs, compressors or other outboard processors.
- Two monitoring or recording systems: Select between two independent 12-channel destinations.
- Two separate studio rooms: Route one source to either of two independently connected studio setups.
- Two DAW or converter systems: Select between alternative analog signal destinations without manually changing connections.
Important: These are alternative connection configurations, not simultaneous operating functions. The unit operates as an A/B selector. The two signal paths cannot be combined or summed.
Switch Between Two 12-Channel Studio Setups Without Repatching
Keep two complete 12-channel studio configurations permanently connected and switch between them with a single front-panel control.
Whether you need to select between two input sources or route one source to two alternative destinations, the bi-directional architecture provides flexible analog routing without manual cable changes.
Both A and B systems remain physically connected. Only the selected signal path is active, while the unselected path is disconnected by the mechanical relay switching system.
Professional 12-Channel A/B Relay Switching
The internal relay switching system provides coordinated selection across all 12 balanced audio channels.
- Single front-panel control switch.
- Simultaneous A/B switching across all 12 channels.
- All channels switch together.
- Front-panel LED status indication.
- Customisable LED colours.
- No manual cable repatching.
- No active audio processing or amplification in the signal path.
The external 12V DC power supply operates the relay control circuit only. The audio signal remains passive.
Balanced TRS Connectivity
The unit features 36 × 1/4″ TRS balanced jack connections, arranged as three 12-channel connection banks.
Designed for direct integration with professional studio equipment.
Suitable for balanced and unbalanced line-level analog signals.
Connect directly to:
- Audio interfaces and AD/DA converters.
- Microphone preamp outputs.
- Analog EQ and compressor outputs.
- Analog summing mixers.
- Studio patching and routing systems.
- Professional recording and monitoring equipment.
Standard TRS Tip / Ring / Sleeve connectivity provides balanced audio connections with sleeve as the common ground.
Fully Passive Analog Signal Path
The VintageMaker switcher uses mechanical relay contacts for direct analog signal routing.
- No active audio electronics.
- No buffers or amplification stages.
- No electronic audio processing.
- No active components in the audio signal path.
- No external power required for audio transmission.
- 12V DC power required for relay control only.
The selected signal travels through a direct mechanical switching path without an active electronic stage.
